TERMS AND CONDITIONS: Individual Psychological Therapy & Coaching
Effective date: 23rd September 2025
Please read through my Terms and Conditions to ensure you are aware of the boundaries around our work together. Let me know if you have any questions.
About Therapy and Coaching
- I typically work with clients towards a specific goal or focus, which we shape together at the start. Therapy usually lasts between 6–20 sessions.
- Weekly sessions provide the most effective basis for change. Fortnightly sessions can also be helpful, though progress may be slower.
- We review progress every 6 sessions to ensure the approach continues to meet your needs.
- You can stop therapy at any time. It is often helpful to have at least one planned ending session, but this is your choice.
Confidentiality
- As an HCPC registered Practitioner Psychologist I am bound by their standards of proficiency to protect your confidentiality. Therefore, everything we discuss is confidential, which means I will keep it private, except in specific circumstances:
- If I have any concerns about risks to you or risks to other people. If possible, I will speak to you about the need to break confidentiality and discuss how this information is shared.
- If in good faith I feel that I can assist in the prevention or detection of serious crime, this includes safeguarding issues regarding children or vulnerable adults, crimes regarding substantial financial gains and losses and acts of terrorism.
Like all Clinical Psychologists, I receive professional supervision. I may discuss aspects of our work with a supervisor, but without sharing information that could identify you.
Online Appointments
- It is important that you create an environment conducive to therapy in your own home when you have online appointments. That may include:
- Ensuring you have a confidential space where you will not be overheard or interrupted (headphones may help).
- Sitting facing the light rather than having it behind you – so I can see you
- A stable place where you can put your phone, tablet or laptop - not moving around during the session.
- Turning off any background noise such as radio or TV.
- Avoid using a bedroom if possible, especially if we are doing trauma work
- Please do not record our sessions without my permission.
- I am not able to assume responsibility for technical difficulties, connection failures or risks inherent in online communication platforms.
Fees and Payment
Self-funded sessions
- Sessions cost £100 for a 60 minute online video conferencing appointment and £120 for an in-person appointment.
- Please by bank transfer no later than 48 hours in advance of each session.
The name on my account is Miss K A L Sherratt. My bank details are:
Sort code 07-01-16
Account number 49659174
Insurance funded sessions
- I will invoice your insurer directly
- Please check your policy for details of any excess, how many sessions are funded (or the limits of your monetary cover), and if sessions will be affected by the policy renewal date
- If there is an excess to pay, this needs to be paid in full by you prior to treatment starting.
- If you cancel within 48 hours of the session, the full fee will be charged to your directly via invoice as insurance companies do not fund cancellations.
Cancellation policy
- I need 48 hours notice of a cancellation in order to be able to offer the space to other clients. If you cancel within this timeframe, a fee will be liable.
- If you cancel outside of the 48 hr period, then your session fee can fund another booking with me.
- If you arrive late, unfortunately I will not be able to extend the session as this will affect my other clients sessions.
Reports and Correspondence
- If a report or letter is required (e.g. for an employer, university, solicitor or other professional) this will incur an additional fee.
- Charges for letters and reports are based on my standard hourly rate, pro rata. A quotation will be provided in advance.
Contact outside of appointments
- I can usually respond to queries Mondays to Thursdays between 9 – 5pm. I will reply when I can – this may not always be the same day.
- Typically email is used for brief correspondence about appointments and brief check-ins on any significant therapy tasks that you may be carrying out.
- If you require emergency or urgent assistance outside my normal working hours, please contact NHS direct on 111, your GP, the emergency services or the Samaritans freephone 116 123.
Record Keeping
- The HCPC requires that I keep accurate and appropriate notes of our work together. Notes are stored securely in encrypted, password protected systems. Paper documents are locked in secure storage.
- I am registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office ZB833478 and any information that I keep is subject to the Data Protection Act 2018 (DPA 18) and United Kingdom General Data Protection Regulation UK-GDPR see Information Commissioner’s Office: https://ico.org.uk . Please see my Data Privacy Policy on my website for more detail.
- In the unlikely event I am unable to continue practice (e.g. serious illness), a trusted professional colleague will access your contact details only to inform you and help you arrange ongoing support.
- By signing this document, you consent to me holding and processing your personal data in line with my Privacy Policy.
